How long does it take do drive from St. John’s to Gros Morne National Park?
It’s about 700 km. A full day of driving.
How long does it take to drive from Marine Atlantic’s ferry terminal in Port aux Basques to Gros Morne National Park?
It’ll take 4½ to 5 hours.
How well is Norris Point situated to visit Gros Morne National Park?
Norris Point is situated right in the center of Gros Morne National Park. It’s only 8 km south of Rocky Harbour which is the administrative center of the Park. It takes about 1 hour and 20 min to drive to the southern end of the park and about an hour to the northern park boundary, and 30 min to the eastern park boundary.
How long should we stay in Gros Morne National Park?
Gros Morne is a fairly big and diverse park. Just for sightseeing by car, you need 2 days to see the park. If you would like to do a boat tour, or some outdoor activities like hiking or kayaking, you need more time. The average stay is 3 – 4 days. One of the most heard comments from our guests is, “We should have stayed longer”.
We often hear about the danger of moose on the road. How dangerous is it really?
Most of the vehicle collisions with moose happen from dusk to dawn. During daylight, just respect the speed limits and keep your eyes open and you should be fine. Don’t drive at night if you can avoid it. If you do need to drive at night you and your passengers have to be on high alert and slow down significantly.
Do you allow pets?
We are sorry, we can’t allow pets due to an increasing number of guests suffering from allergies.
Where are the best places to see icebergs and when is the best time?
East Coast, North-East Coast, tip of the Northern Peninsula and the Straits of Belle Isle are probably the best places to see the white giants. Early summer is prime time for icebergs, but on the tip of the Northern Peninsula you may see them as late as early August.
